Diablo 2 High Resolution V1.14

• From another forum if you're having trouble: I think I found a way to get it to use the higher resolutions, without having LoD installed. This involves changing your registry, so if you feel uncomfortable in doing that, or you don't know what that is, then don't do it. Firstly run the D2MultiResGame exe that comes with the patch. It should start the game and generate a log file. You can't change the res in-game in a non-LoD Diablo II install because there is no resolution button, so exit the game. Look in the D2MultiResLog.txt log file (in your Diablo II folder). It should have a bunch of resolutions it found. Something like this... Added Display Mode: 10: 640 x 480 Added Display Mode: 11: 1280 x 800 Added Display Mode: 12: 1280 x 960 Added Display Mode: 13: 1280 x 1024 Added Display Mode: 14: 1680 x 1050 Added Display Mode: 15: 1920 x 1080 See the number after 'Mode:'. Remember the number for the resolution you want to run it in. For me I wanted to run it 1920x1080, so 15 was my number. Run regedit, search for 'D2RMRes'. Its parent folder should be 'Diablo II'. Change its value to that number you remembered. The number is a decimal number. Close regedit, and rerun the D2MultiResGame exe. Once you get into the game itself, you should have your nice new resolution.

  Wahey, that DID work! I got some horrible artifacts and graphical glitches in 1920x1080, but when I switched to 1280x720 it looked great. I may want to reduce the resolution somewhat to make stuff easier to read. I'm about 3 meters or so away from the telly, and it's only 40'.

  So, little off topic perhaps but I have just installed titan's quest because I could not bear the look of D2 on my LCD. Now I have installed the widescreen mod and it looks great at high resolutions. My question is; what makes D2 better than Titan's Quest? A brief play of both reveals more similarities than differences.

  D2 is pure awesome. Titan Quest is also awesome... to be honest... while they're both very very similar and TQ is obviously more recent, they're also very different. Play both ^__^

  Fucking Battlenet. I'm getting sick of it locking up and then eventually kicking you me out of a game only to be told that the game I was playing in no longer existed. Or that my account is blocked from logging in temporarily. Fucking stupid thing. It's an 8 year old game (the LOD expansion), how fucking hard can the comms be with all the bullshit they've done for WoW etc?

  Purely to justify my excitement for Diablo 3, I decided to try this out after having last played the game when I was about 13 and not getting it at all. I was a Warcraft kid, see. Playing it at 1920x1200 was a bit weird; everything's so bloody tiny it's easy to miss a lot of clicks and picking up a key is a game in itself. Otherwise it's great. Quite suprised that it still holds up, though having fallen out of touch with the hack n' slash genre and missing such apparent gems as Titan Quest may have me seeing things a bit more favourably. Only found a few recurring glitches in Direct3D, mainly texture s streaking across the screen for a second. I'm playing through with a Paladin, which I feel is a bit gay, but enjoyable nonetheless.

Try different settings. I had the same i.e. until I switched one res lower and disabled 3D mode.

Yes, you can run it in OSX, if you own the disc it's probably pc / mac already, if not you can download it form Blizz. Rumour is Blizzard are working on one themselves but I wouldn't hold your breath. I just ended up bootcamping into Windows 7 and playing Titan Quest

  *bump* and meh, this worked fine for me under Vista, but doesn't work under Win 7. Getting a 'unable to load d2multires.dll' error. Loads of people with that problem, but I haven't found a working fix yet.

  I'm fine with it in Vista, as long as I'm running it in a window. It still looks pretty good! But after a couple weeks playing it, I realised why I stopped. It's the gaming equivalent of junk food - it tastes good, but is really, really bad for you. Especially if you have other things that you really should be doing. ;_;
